WTA Led Work Party on the Cape Horn Trail, Saturday Sept. 16th, 2023
The Washington Trails Association (WTA) will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary Work Party at the Cape Horn Trail this year. Our Conservancy volunteers can join in the celebration by participating in this September work party, which is planned for Saturday, September 16th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
This work party will focus on cutting back vegetation, refurbishing the trail tread and fixing some broken pieces of decking on a small bridge.
These events are sponsored by the WTA, and CHC volunteers are encouraged to sign up through the WTA website. You can register for the work party by clicking on the link below:

SEVENTH ANNUAL CAPE HORN TRAIL RAKE-A-THON
on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 9:30 to Noon, rain or shine.
The Cape Horn Conservancy is again sponsoring the Cape Horn Rake-A-Thon in 2023. Volunteers can sign up and join us on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 9:30 to Noon, rain or shine. Removing leaves from the trail reduces trail maintenance and repairs since the trail will drain better without all of the soggy leaves! Volunteers should BYOR – (bring your own rakes), garden gloves and hard hats (the Conservancy can also provide hardhats). We've noted that metal garden rakes work better to remove the leaves. We will meet at the Road Closed Gate at the end of Strunk Road at 9 am.
Following this fun event will be a chili feed starting at 12:30 pm at the American Legion on Washougal River Road. Join us for drinks, chili, cookies and other goodies – it's our way of thanking you for helping to keep the Cape Horn Trail one of the best maintained trails in the gorge and for all of your support. Driving directions will be provided to Strunk Road and the American Legion closer to the date.
